Ecosystem Invention

Students will create a device that is either helpful to or decorative to a specific ecosystem of their choosing. Looking into current event issues can help spur on ideas of current needs for ecological help.

 


Mouse Trap Invention

Students will create an invention that causes a series of events that begins with the setting off of a mousetrap and ends with a balloon popping. There needs to be at least 4 events. Additional events will receive extra credit. These events are like the following - a mouse trap snaps causing a ball to move down a ramp. Then the ball bounces on a teeter totter causing a tack to fly into a balloon and then the balloon pops.

Motion And Design Invention

Students will create a device using things they have learned about motion and design and simple machines. This particular invention is very open ended. Please indicate the use of at least one of the following terms: inertia, momentum, acceleration, speed, gravity, friction, balanced forces, work, distance. This devise can not be a car designed like the ones we are creating in the classroom.   The more vocabulary you explain in the process the better!

Nursing Home Invention (Body Systems)

Students will create a devise to assist members living in a local nursing home with day to day tasks.  Students will be given the opportunity to interview the residents to discover what problems they most encounter from day to day.  Then the students have invented their devices they will be judged by the Nursing Home Residents.  

Weather Invention

Design a NEW devise to either forecast or cope with weather.  Research current weather trends to see what tools might be useful to have.

Bedroom Picker Upper Invention

Students will create a device that helps them clean their room. Students should not have to bend down to pick things up. Students will be given extra credit if a note is written from parents stating they used their invention to clean their bedroom.

Special Delivery Invention

Students will be required to build a device that delivers a message a distance of 20 feet.

Spaghetti Invention

Students will invent a device to eat spaghetti. This device needs to be original and can not already be an invented utensil (can not be a fork, knife or spoon). Creativity is a plus with this invention. Make sure that it is useable because students will be eating spaghetti with their inventions.
